Teamwork is tops

This edition is by far the easiest magazine I’ve ever edited. The fact that so much happens at Pastel is one reason – there’s a lot to write about. Another reason is the interesting times we live in, again with lots to write about. But the real reason I found this issue so effortless is that I didn’t do much editing on this magazine. That’s right – my team did. I took ill just as we had to go into production and as I went man-down, Team Pastel took up the reins and got on with the job at hand.
My colleagues quickly got up to speed with my work by mining my inbox, making a few phone calls, re-allocating some resources and checking my budget. They got on with the task of putting together the first edition of Pastel Intelligence and the result is here for you to enjoy.
Teamwork is a great example of why I think Softline Pastel is such a great company to work for. And I’m not the only one – we recently won the local and national Community Spirit recognition at the annual Business Process Outsourcing. Awards. Pastel was acknowledged for exceptional Community Spirit initiatives and we shared centre stage with the likes of Volkswagen SA, Nedbank and Sanlam.
you’ll find some of the best business tips for start-up companies that I’ve ever seen. Cut it out and keep it. If you don’t need it, a friend or family member may find it useful.
I’m not the only one who took time out. Our MD Steven Cohen sat on his stoep and took stock of the upheaval around us and as always, sees a light where many don’t.
Pastel Evolution has evolved yet again. Version 6 adds yet another dimension to the program and as always there are lots of tips and tricks from the best brains in our company.
Lastly, those of you with sharp memories would have noticed the name change from Pastel Insight to Pastel Intelligence. We’ve combined two Softline Pastel magazines. Saving money, saving trees.
Oh yes, and don’t forget to look out for our online version at www.pastelintelligence.co.za.

Enjoy!
